Binder Laboratory
The main function of the Binder Laboratory is to provide a quality control tool to the operation and production departments of Irish Tar & Bitumen Suppliers. All testing in this laboratory is carried to I.S. EN ISO 9001:2000.

The laboratory also carries out extensive new product development in conjunction with the Road Materials Laboratory to ensure that Irish Tar & Bitumen Suppliers are at the forefront of innovation in the road construction industry.

To ensure that product development can be carried out throughout the year, independent of external weather conditions, a climatically controlled room has been commissioned controlling both temperature and relative humidity.

The laboratory also offers a quality assurance and testing service to our customers to ensure their compliance with their own quality systems.

Routine testing is carried out on each cargo that discharges in Irish Tar & Bitumen Suppliers and these results are available to customers.

Quality control is carried out on all production that is carried out on site.

This covers:

• bitumen blends
• polymer modified bitumen products
• delayed set bitumen
• bitumen emulsions
• polymer modified bitumen emulsions
• tackcoats
• cold mix emulsions
• warm mix binders
• bituminous paints

Our surface dressing emulsions are independently tested by the NRA throughout the surface dressing season to ensure compliance.
